The 64DD is a magnetic storage add-on for the N64 and it will use disks instead of cartriges. It will be used to store bigger games for the N64. The 64DD disks hold 64 Megabytes ( the cart Mario64 is on only holds 8 Megabytes). It will also be able to do the so called disk/cartridge where you use both the cartridge and 64DD disk at the same time.

A cool thing with the 64DD is that the 64DD disks are writeable. That means you can update a game with more levels etc. There will be some kind of modem in the 64DD that will enable you guys to play against each other over I-net or via the telephone lines. It will also enable you to browse the I-net and download extra levels etc.. for games.

With the 64DD there will also be a two Megabyte RAM expansion pak.
